Chorister -- Musician

Elaine and Marv have always been heavily involved in music, particularly chorus music. Their current chorus involvement is with the Washington Chorus which performs with area orchestras, often the National Symphony Orchestra, in the Kennedy Center as well as in other places. In July, 1998, a substantial portion of the chorus recently toured Eastern Europe and sang in cathedrals and auditoriums in the Czech Republic and in Hungary. A pictorial travelogue can be viewed HERE if you have patience to wait or a very fast modem. In July 2000 they will travel with the chorus to various sites in Italy. In the fall of 1998, both Marv and Elaine participated in a production of Music Man at our local church. In the distant past, Marv has been a serious piano and organ student and both Elaine and Marv have taken voice lessons. Music is and will remain an important part of their life.

Technical Writer

In 1999 Elaine participated in a writing project developing an on-line book on Y2K issues targeted for the non-technical PC user. The book is called, "Y2K Run to Save Your PC from the Year 2000 Bug," and was being distributed by HardShell Word Factory as an on-line book. It was also available on a CD. On-line books have the advantage of being able to easily direct the reader to important information on the internet with simple hyperlinks.

Computer Consultant

Elaine is also involved in several projects as a computer consultant both on a volunteer basis and for MarLaine Services. This includes:
  • providing personal assistance to new computer users
  • software training
  • development of templates to make work more efficient
  • development of teaching aids to assist in increased efficiency in the work environment
  • consultation for equipment purchase for new computer users

She recently completed a series of typical settlement drafts in MSWord outline form for a local attorney to help streamline her daily work.
