Ecola State Park, Oregon

We are now continuing our exploration of the Oregon Coastline by driving South all the way to Tillamook where we will spend the night.

The scene below is so typical of the rocky Oregon coastline, I thought I would post one in a larger-than-usual size. This one was taken from the Ecola State Park which is our next destination. The map to the left shows our route from Fort Clatsop on Route 101 through Seaside and onto Cannon Beach which is depicted in the next small map below.

To the right is a map of the lower portion of Ecola State Park -- there was much more to explore, but we had the entire coast of Oregon to see in the rest of today and tomorrow. We entered the park at 9th street and took picture above at circle 1. The beach and surf pictures to come were taken at circle 2 after a short woodsy drive.   As we approached the sea below
the view became increasingly beautiful until we looked down
The picture below is a telephoto of the one upper right.
As we rounded the bend, the famous rocks slowly emerged.
Oh! So all these rocks have a name -- I didn't see any sea lions. Perhaps they looked like sea lions.
After a 15 minute drive through dense woods, we emerged at circle 2 on the map above.
A pleasant beach scene, and a black bird keeping watch.

Below, the best my telephoto could do.

Pleasant beach scene, with an extra party inhabiting that cave way in the distance.
They couldn't escape my 8X telephoto zoom.
and saw the incredible coastline.
Off the the right of our path, a group was having a party.
A Riderwood neighbor gave us a list of things to see. His comment about Ecola was "Many rocks".
And these two show what fantastic scene was around that bend.

A lot of surfers.

We are out of Ecola Park driving south along the Oregon coast.

Next, our drive from Tillamook where we spent the night, down the beautiful Oregon coast  to Bandon,
